In Louisiana, the peak season for snake bites is typically from April through October, with a higher risk during the warmer months. This period coincides with increased snake activity as they become more active in warmer temperatures to hunt and find mates. While snakes can be encountered throughout the day during spring and summer, they tend to avoid the extreme heat of midday, becoming more active in the early mornings, late evenings, and at night.
